Annual Writing Prize Recognizes First Year Students
The Emmanuel College School of Humanities and Social Sciences recently recognized three students through the annual First Year Writing Prize event. Submissions for the writing prize are drawn from the "Introduction to Academic Writing" course, which helps first-year students sharpen their academic writing and research skills.

Saints Visit New Orleans for 2026 Social Justice Trip
Emmanuel students learned about history and gained deeper perspective on the present, through the 5th Annual Social Justice Trip to New Orleans in March. New Orleans was the destination for 18 students who participated in the 2026 Social Justice Trip. Organized through the Office of Community Engagement, the journey featured stops at civil rights museums, historic landmarks, and learning from pioneers both past and present. The Office of Community Engagement is deeply rooted in the Catholic identity and mission of Emmanuel College. Its commitment to community and social responsibility is reflected in programming and initiatives aimed at strengthening relationships and fostering a community grounded in inclusion, respect, and shared purpose.

'Day of Service' Helps New Students Build Connections
Building community through service has always been a priority at Emmanuel College. For students in the Class of 2029, it'll also be one of their first memories of pursuing higher education in the Heart of Boston. Rising early on the last day before the official start of the academic year, more than 360 new Saints fanned out across Boston and beyond to volunteer at food shelves, homeless shelters, and other organizations that meet vital community needs through the New Student Day of Service.

More than 20 students from the School of Nursing recently explored cultural, historical, and medical sites in Japan. The 10-day trip included stops in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Osaka to visit healthcare facilities, Sensoji Temple, Hiroshima Castle and more.

Emmanuel Nursing Students Promote Growth Through Peer Mentoring
More than 60 juniors and seniors at the Emmanuel College School of Nursing are providing support and guidance for their fellow students through peer mentoring this fall. Offered through the School of Nursing Club, the peer mentoring program also organizes community-building events, such as a recent peer mentoring crafts night. Additionally, participants receive support from the faculty peer mentoring team.
